Claudia

Mother of Phillipina and Colleen.  She studied Home Economics and Theology.  She taught Colleen in Grade 1 and found Infant Teaching “enormous fun and of course a tremendous responsibility!”

Her involvement with Infants led to making Teaching Apparatus which was challenging yet colourful and sometimes pizzazzy!  Her other interests are embroidering tapestries and trying out different  embroidery techniques.

She is now involved in digitizing and machine embroidery with Colleen and Philly.

Claudia and her husband Ron line on a small farm - 9 hectares.  It has a wonderful view of a town and an Abbey.  Ron and their son Vernon have a successful cabinet-making business.

Phillipina

Philly joined Colleen last year and opened their other web-site Machinembroiderysa.  Philly loves everything about it – from chatting and making friends to designing and embroidering.  To her this is “just gorgeous”.

Phil’s hobby has also been glass.  She made many lovely items – tissue holders, candle holders etc and lamp-shades which she sold.  I have kept two which I treasure.

Phil met her husband Riaan whilst working in the family brokerage.  Under her grandfather’s tutelage she learnt about Investments and Marketing.

Besides running a home and a web-site Phil still loves doing her own sewing and knitting jerseys for Riaan and herself.

Colleen

Colleen always wanted her own business and while at school often initiated fund-raising projects.

From childhood she was always interested in making “something”.  Together with her grandmother she would crochet – eventually reading a pattern; knitting – always fairisle designs and sewing.  Petit Point was her favourite form of embroidery.

Weekends she would spend in the kitchen and eventually started her own baking business supplying a local Deli.

Together with her father she “built-up” a VW Beetle.  Some years later she sold this to put the money into Magic Stitches.
